i need change..

no no i don’t need those 1 rupee,50 paisa and other assorted coins you are throwing…..yeah that 500 rupee bill would be fine, cheques accepted too…but that beyond the point. i need a change in life, maybe of life…i would not mind switching places with Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

anyways coming to a different topic, i was talking about a friend yesterday about people with gear lever embedded in their asses..lol and i was reminded of this incident which happened quite while ago. I am writing it here for the benefit of my reader and R.B.T. who happened to miss this awesome moment since he was slogging it out in dear Italia at that frame in history.
this happened when I was in eighth standard. The class was going on normally and Mr. garhwal Mohit Lohani was sitting in front of me on his desk. Now Mr. lohani is the same person who gave me the title “MASTER OF ALL NEGATIVE CREATION” in lieu of my services to twisted songwriting and humorous takes on everyone including him. Back to that fateful class now. Mr. lohani was apparently busy copying something from somebody sitting on a desk in front of him for which he had to lean forward and over the shoulder of whoever was sitting in front of him. I chanced upon this opportunity and placed a ball pen in an upright position where his ass was scheduled to arrive.
At the designated moment Mohit landed on the pen and immediately shrieked as the point of the ball pen poked into half of his posterior. Not wanting to draw attention to the embarrassing incident, he muffled his pain and after hurling at me choicest of words got down to business again.
I on the other hand am not a particularly quick learner..ha ha. So as soon as mohit got into his “peeking position” again I promptly put the pen back in position and what followed was a repeat of the above. This happened again and again till Mr. lohani was now conditioned into looking before sitting. So I gave up too.
Nearing the end of the class I decided it was time to have some fun since I was getting really really bored. I found mohit with his rear in the usual lift off position so I placed the pen back on the designated spot. I expected him to look before sitting and we would have had a laugh. Instead the reverse happened, this time mohit didn’t look , he didn’t even sit , he unfortunately jumped back on to his seat where the ball pen(this time capped) was waiting to greet him.
And greet him it did, I didn’t use that pen again. And mohit didn’t dare cry out at that point with a pen wedged in his ass. Everyone who saw it could not control their laughter….except poor lohani who till date behaves like he has something stuck up his ass…..

RIP THE BEST

I first read about George best as a kid, the article described him as a “lost genius” and mostly rued how the footballer wasted his talent. The image created in my mind reading that article was that of a laggard, a dude who could have amounted to something had he tried harder, an underachiever.
He image stuck….till I saw best play. I watched reruns of old Manchester united matches on ESPN and it broke to smithereens all notions I had about best. He like his name was indeed one of the best I had ever seen play, if not the best. His ball control and balance was to be seen to believed. The goals that I saw him score were better the best Pele or Maradona ever produced. Best is not revered like them outside of the United Kingdom ….how different things would have been had he championed Northern Ireland to the world cup!
The fact that best was a rare genius was evident to my now widened eyes; his showmanship was the icing on the otherwise perfect cake. I was a convert.  There was a twist in the tale
Alcohol killed George best.
The bottle took charge in hi life. It robbed him and us of probably the best football of his life…it ruined everything.
But to look back with regret would be sacrilege to the greatness of George Best…here we are looking to the skies and thinking “Rest in peace Georgie, you left your mark on us, you will be missed and you will be remembered….forever”

Beaten Red

Anybody cared to see what has been going on in JNU? Well not that I am concerned, it just occurred to me… do people at JNU do anything? That is other than organize all night debates, rallying against a café, showing black flags to the prime minister for voting against a country which has done noting for us, then going into another debate, another protest against the protest….
I suppose the higher beings at this cradle of “intellectualism” are not really concerned with things as mundane as regular studies or struggles of the real world like finding a job and other timid stuff like that. But no they are concerned that the coffee that they just drank filled the coffers of a company based outside of India, so the coffee must be helping burn houses of the poor in Bengal. Iran which is developing nuclear weapons must do so and brandish those arms…while we must not.
I have been reading the articles by sitaram yechury in the Hindustan times and I suppose they will make an excellent replacement for the comic strips for they are out and out hilarious. Supporting killer naxals claiming they are “misguided “farmers is akin to calling rape love in mutated form. I am not sure what this is yechury’s audacity or his sheer stupidity that makes him talk like he does. Then there was the natwar Singh episode where the left granted full support to the ex foreign minister for he made the right noises on Iran….I am running out of swear words but their antics fail to cease. Is there a way out?….I suppose these reds should just stay mum for A closed mouth gathers no feet.

On another note I propose to rename NDTV i.e. New Delhi television to ITV implying Islamabad television for they seem to have forgotten where exactly they are based, it’s best to base them where they belong. It’s easy to call our own home filthy…try living in the neighbor’s place which is more of a sewer. And please chuck that self righteous attitude and get real….while you are at chucking it chuck Barkha Dutt as well, she Is beginning to think that she is India’s Christian amanpour which is not a great model from any angle. Then she has that Pakistan complex too…

more of the legend

I am not quite sure how I missed it; it is of course on of rohans most renowned capers. But I admit it did skip out of my mind for a short walk or something, but was dragged back as soon as the Royal Bengal Turtle reminded me…so here goes.
This incident dates back to circa 2001-02 when Senor Rohan had acquired a new shining silver Honda Activa scooter. On one fine day our hero decided to go with a friend on a spin to Connaught place. He had everything in order except for the small detail of possessing a valid driving license. To make matters worse he unwittingly jumped a red light and was promptly waylaid by a Home Guard constable who perhaps decided the opportunity was right to milk this cash cow of some of its booty. Our protagonist pleaded his innocence, begged for mercy then pleaded with the “cop”.  “I have only 1500 bucks with me” he claimed His assailant relented accepted the “small” amount and let him go. A gleeful Rohan later told me “I actually had 3000 bucks but I hid the remaining!”
I didn’t know to laugh or to cry, the fine for jumping a red light was only  a hundred bucks and the constable who stopped rohan didn’t have any power to enforce a fine rohan could have slapped him and walked away  yet the hairy one had paid 1.5 grand and was happy about it .
When told about of the ground reality rohan was expectedly red faced, but then he moved on till the next encounter with a fake cop that is…..

I LOVE MUSIC

I love music, in fact I live breath eat drink music. Although its very hard but I am today trying to post a list of twenty something of favorite songs. I have the already hard job of choosing from all the songs that I so so love …Don’t expect me to be able to rank them as well…..;-)

MR. TAMBOURINE MAN -BOB DYLAN
One of the eternal favorites, the sweet melody of this song is what got me, Dylan’s effortless delivery makes this song an eternal soother. Never mind the references to pot. Knocking on heavens doors and like a rolling stones come a close second and third. The best thing about Dylan’s folk sound is its simplicity.

ALL APOLOGIES(UNPLUGGED VERSION) – NIRVANA
Nirvana was one of the best things to hit mother earth. The raw power and energy of this song is felt not described. One of my favorite past times as a kid was to turn up the stereo full blast and listen to Nirvana’s Nevermind, which contained powerhouses like lithium, in bloom and drain you not to forget “come as you are” other than the obvious “smells like teen spirit”. All apologies originally featured in “in utero” Kurt cobain later played the song in unarguably the best unplugged performance ever for MTV. I had to try hard to choose just one Nirvana song since I like their music a whole whole lot.

HERE COMES THE SUN – THE BEATLES
The quite Beatle GEORGE HARRISON didn’t quite get the recognition he deserved as a songwriter. While McCartney and Lennon hogged most of the limelight he was happy plugging away and writing brilliant songs such as this one. One of the ultimate feel good songs this along with the “Radha Krsna Temple” that he produced is part of the vast work done by Harrison. The beautiful guitar strains tuned to closely resemble the sound of a sitar weave their magic. ”the smiles returning to the faces……”

SATISFACTION – THE ROLLING STONES
I really can’t enough satisfaction listening to this song; this song really charges me up for more. The steady beat, the uppity strains, this song just nudges out the cover of “like a rolling stone” that the stones did as a reflection of their own rock and roll lifestyles, bloody good cover that was (the song features twice in this list) ”that what I say…….I cant get enough satisfaction”

NO WOMAN NO CRY –THE FUGEES FEAT JIGGY MARLEYanother cover that features in this list The Fugees took a great classic and made it fantastic. Marley’s nostalgic lyrics were done justice by his son. I heard this song when I was about 11 and its one of my favorites since then. Needless to mention this song too has great sounding guitar which hold the song and the beat together.

STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA –BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
One of the common features of most of these songs is that I have been fond of them since I was a kid and this song is no exception. The beats and the haunting sound ensured that this song stuck in my mind, the way the boss sung it ensured I loved it. The wonderful lyrics and the backing vocals ensure that this is a great song.

WHERE DO I BEGIN –THE CHEMICAL BROTHERSa deviation from the pattern of this list this IS a great song. I absolutely love the music that the chemical brothers churn out from their labs this song has an amazing folksy sound coupled with a really really amazing melody and great vocals. The timing of this song is breathtaking. The transition from the slow to fast is executed so well. The pleasure derived from this song is way better than sex.

SCORPIO RISING – DEATH IN VEGAS
i love death in vegas and their monster hit Scorpio rising, this song has great sound and some very “different” lyrics …including the line that forms my email signature”…I want to go to heaven never been there before, I want to go to heaven so you kill me some more….” A call by a lover while making love …and getting transported to heaven…fantastic!. The song was accompanied by a very stunning video featuring Japanese warrior ninja’s….simply amazing.

NAME(ACOUSTIC VERSION)-GOO GOO DOLLS
Resnik and his band create this amazing song, which sounds better in its acoustic form, the song has lovely lyrics and touches more than a cord with me, as is the case with nearly all songs on this list this too features lovely guitarwork.

WHAT IS LOVE – HADDAWAY
Haddaway’s only major success I heard this song as a kid and fell instantly in love with it.

WONDERWALL – OASIS
I loved this song but didn’t find out who had written it till about 5 years it after came out.
I have sung this song to more than one girlfriend, coz I love this song. the Gallagher brothers in best form…ever!

HURT –JOHNNY CASH
Few people can give covers a new identity. you expect young bands to do covers of big oldies, but here was cash on his last album before his death ,took Trent reznors song and made it his own. Somewhat autobiographical….chillingly real ….painfully good. Amazing song!

GOOD RIDDANCE- GREEN DAYanother one of the acoustic guitar songs…this one is special, I am a green day fan and this is in my opinion their best song …barring maybe “when I come around”

THE SCIENTIST-COLDLAY
This single from the mega album “rush of blood to the head” is simply breath taking all of the songs could have been here….this song is here since its about love and messing it up… I identify with this song. And it’s beautiful.

FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU –ELVIS PRESLEY
I am not much of an Elvis fan . there are only some songs of his I can listen to without demanding pay. This one is different….it is amazingly simple and true…making it a classic.

WHISKEY IN THE JAR –METTALICA
Mettalica’s song about pirates and cons has amazing tempo, excellent guitar and that zing which makes you jump up and take notice. The guitar riffs in the middle section make you wish you could play like that.

PORCELAIN -MOBY
“In my dreams I am drowning all the time…” enough said.

WISH YOU WERE HERE – INCUBUS
The ultimate call, this song about diamond like oceans and happiness …makes you wish you were there. The poetic descriptions are the icing on the cake of the excellent guitar melody.

BLITZKREING BOP-THE RAMONES
The ramones has lyrics so stupid they were intelligent. Even my 5 year old brother knows ‘hi ho lets go……” that the tune is catchy is an understatement…its addictive!

WITH OR WITHOUT YOU –U2
U2 is an eternal favorite, they’ve yet to release a bad album and choosing just one song out of their big back catalogue is almost sacrilege, so i nominate “I still haven’t found to this list”

WICKED GAMES – CHRIS ISSAC
I was tempted to put its cover by HIM in the list but this list has enough solid covers to protect the white house, so the original forces its way in and stays there…brilliant song!

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE – AUDIOLAVE
Its official audioslave are a superband…the output of rage against the machine and soundgarden, you cannot go wrong with this combo. They’ve proved already that this song wasn’t just a flash in the pan with their second album. This song is fucking brilliant!
“a nail in my hand from my creator…..you gave me a life now show me how to live….”

My apologies to kernkraft, blink182, linkin park ,and others for leaving them out of the list

for that girl i dont know

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I’m sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won’t lose no sleep on that,
‘Cause I’ve got a plan.

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
I saw you face in a crowded place,
And I don’t know what to do,
‘Cause I’ll never be with you.

Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Flying high,
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
I saw you face in a crowded place,
And I don’t know what to do,
‘Cause I’ll never be with you.
You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it’s time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.
